2nd Trimester

New semester just started yesterday and I have attended three lectures so far.

The lecturers are talking mostly about individual and group assignments. Later, we were asked to get into the groups of five or six. The worst thing about grouping is you cannot choose your own group members. The lecturers will assign you to a particular group instead.

We have a 'lucky draw' session today. Each of our names is written on a small piece of paper, folded and drawn by the lecturer. Our hearts were trembling as the lecturer read our names one by one. The reactions of my classmates are really interesting to watch. LOL

Luckily, so far all my group members are fine. They are those who I can work well with.

All the best to myself in this new semester! Adios.

Movie Marathon

I have spent lots of money on movies recently. This is the craziest month indeed for me.

Source Code
Thor
Fast & Furious 5
Pirates of the Caribbean 4
Priest
Insidious

I can't believe that I have watched so many movies in a month. Imagine how broke I am now.

Another one is coming up next: Kung Fu Panda! (Despite my 'brokeness'. LOL)

Seven movies in a month. I have broken the record of my life. LOL

Dean's List!

I could not believe when my friend told me I was in the Dean's List.

Dean's List is the academic achievement where a student scores 3.5 above for their Grade Point Average (GPA). If a student scores 3.7 above, he or she will be in the President's List.

I think you can roughly guess my GPA. It is in between Dean's List and President's List. =P

I am indeed very happy because the result is much much better than I have expected. I think it is worth a celebration huh?

I will continue to work hard in my following semesters to maintain my CGPA.

Aza aza fighting, Jeffrey!

Forget Past, Look Forward

It was the beginning of a new semester, a young teacher was assigned to become the class teacher of 26 students. After introducing herself, she asked the students a question with three choices.

Question: If you are asked to choose ONE from three personalities below, who do you think it is the most suitable candidate for a leader?

A. Unethical businessman, has two mistress, superstitious, heavy smoker and drinker
B. Always got fired from jobs, slacker, drug addict and heavy whiskey drinker
C. Patriotic, vegetarian, artistic, crime free, non-smoker and light drinker

Without any hesitation, every student in the class chose C as his/her favourable leader. What about you?

It is common if everyone chooses C because he/she fulfills the standard judgement, but we always look things on the surface only. Well, do you have any idea who are these three personalities?

A. Franklin D. Roosevelt - 32nd President of United States
B. Winston Churchill - Ex-Prime Minister of United Kingdom
C. Adolf Hitler - leader of fascism in Europe and World War II

The students were shocked after hearing what the teacher had told them. (I guess you are, too. =P)

The moral of this story: The past is not important. As long as you do not give up, you still have the control over your present and future. From now on, just do whatever you should, you will be yet wiser and become a talent with high calibre.

Red Lorry, Yellow Lorry

Try out the tongue twisters below. I am sure you will improve your pronunciations tremendously if you managed to say them quick and without any mistake.

Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers.
Did Peter Piper pick a peck of pickled peppers?
If Peter Piper Picked a peck of pickled peppers,
Where's the peck of pickled peppers Peter Piper picked?

She sells seashells by the seashore.
The shells she sells are surely seashells.
So if she sells shells on the seashore,
I'm sure she sells seashore shells.

How much wood would a woodchuck chuck
If a woodchuck could chuck wood?
He would chuck, he would, as much as he could,
And chuck as much as a woodchuck would
If a woodchuck could chuck wood.

Have fun 'picking', 'selling' and 'chucking'! LOL

Last Week of Sem Break

Today I refreshed the UTAR Portal page, anxiously, for a dozen times.

Some of my friends said the final examination result for the first semester will be out today at 12pm. It is 6.30pm now and the result is not out yet.

Friends, please do not scare the hell out of me. You guys also have to understand the efficiency level of UTAR. LOL

Well, I guess I just have to wait until someone post at Facebook's wall that the result is released.

I want to enjoy the last week of semester break. Result please GO DAI and do not ruin my holiday mood please!

3.8 GPA

I have had a dream yesterday night and I still can remember it.

I dreamt that I score 3.8 GPA for my first semester.

I know is IMPOSSIBLE but how I wish it were true. T.T

Result is coming out very soon. I cross my fingers and wish myself the best of luck.

I will be damn freaking happy if I can score 3.0 GPA or above. It is because I have expected my GPA will be lower than 2.5 for this semester.

God bless me!

10 Advices from Bill Gates

Before retiring in July 2008, the best-known and one of the richest entrepreneurs of the personal computer revolution give 10 advices to the young people, especially the high school students. I believe if you adhere to his advices, you are most likely to be successful in your future endeavors.

Life is not fair - get used to it.

The world is never fair. You know this? You can never change the whole world. Injustice still exists in the current society, so you should try to adapt.

The world won't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.

Your extreme self-esteem may make your job inconvenient. Don't attach too much significance on your self-esteem as people care about your achievements rather than it.

You will NOT make 40 thousand dollars a year right out of high school. You won't be a vice president with car phone, until you earn both.

Normally you can't be rich if you have just finished high school. However to become an executive, you need to obtain both: a high school certificate and the money.

If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss. He doesn't have tenure.

If you have thought that all your problems really come from the hard requirements of your teachers, you shouldn't look for a job. Simply if there aren't strict demands from your company, you will do nothing and quickly become unemployed. Then nobody will give you a hand.

If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault, so don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them.

Don't blame your failure on your destiny. All you need now is to stay calm and start from scratch.

Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you are.

You should show your gratefulness to your parents for spending most of their lives for your living and growth. All the “outdated” of your parents today is the price they have to pay for your growth.

In some schools they have abolished failing grades and they'll give you as many times as you want to get the right answer. This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.

Keep in mind that you can always become a leader, so that you will have more motivation to strive for your career.

Life is not divided into semesters. You don't get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you find yourself.

Don’t always wait for holidays or you will be left behind your colleagues. That backwardness means elimination and unemployment.

Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.

Everybody likes watching TV, but you shouldn't watch it too much. As that actually isn't your life and your thinking will be influenced. You yourself have to determine your own life.

Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one.

You should be nice to everyone. Life has happenings you could never expect. Be open to your boss, don’t say bad things behind his back as it will bring you nowhere.

iSketch

Hey guys, I got so addicted with this game recently.

www.isketch.net

Just enter any room you like. Each room can fit maximum 10 people. Each player in the room will take turn to draw a word on the board using the tools given, while others will try to guess the word.

The first player who type the word correctly will get 10 points, the second player will get 9 points, the third player will get 8 points and so on. Artists accrue points for every correct guess within the grace period.

At the end of the game, which is after 10 rounds, the player with the highest score is the winner.

No matter how sucky is your drawing, the people there still can guess the word correctly. In this game, you can also let your imaginations go wild and learn more vocabulary.

Hope you guys can enjoy this game as much as i do. =)

Nightmares

I had nightmares yesterday night and I am still not able to 'calm' myself. LOL

First, I saw that I was doing my Multimedia Design paper in an exam hall. When the time is up, there are four pages of questions I have not attempted!

I saw ALL the subjects that I had taken in the first semester have FAILED! One of my lecturers was marking our papers right in front of me and he failed all the students' papers. @.@

Also, I was sexually assaulted by many unknown people in my dream. =.=

What the fark. Zzzz.

End of 1st Semester

Finished the last examination paper today, Psychology. It was tough but thank God the final examinations are over! Score or don't score, I don't care. Just take a good rest and enjoy first.

Well, this also marked the end of the first semester. Finally! I have been looking forward to my three weeks holiday since I feel frustrated with the gruelling assignments.

I am so going to make full use of my holiday and start planning on what to do. Movies are definitely on my first list - Rio, Fast and Furious 5, Thor, Kung Fu Panda and Pirates of the Carribean. Sitcom/Drama as well - Glee, How I Met Your Mother, Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) and etc.

I will also read a lot during the holidays to improve my English skills because I will be taking English for Mass Communication (EMC) and Radio Broadcasting for the next semester. I heard from seniors these subjects are much tougher than English Vocabulary. *Faint* Study during the holiday sounds abnormal to most of you but I guess it is for my own good. =)

I am going out soon, with my classmates for movies, steamboat dinner and a casual party! I guess I have plenty dates to handle as well during the holiday. LOL.
